Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Plant Environmental Health & Safety Manager

Location: Van Buren, Indiana Status: Full-Time, Exempt

Make Safety Part of How We Work

At Weaver Popcorn Manufacturing, safety is more than a program—it is part of how we operate, lead, and care for our people.

We are looking for an experienced Plant Environmental Health & Safety (EHS) Manager to lead EHS strategy and programs across our two Van Buren manufacturing plants.

This is a highly visible, hands-on leadership role for someone who is equally comfortable on the production floor and at the leadership table. You'll partner across all levels of the organization to reduce risk, strengthen compliance, solve problems, and continue building a proactive and accountable safety culture.

What You'll Do

  • Lead EHS strategy, priorities, goals, and programs across both Van Buren plants.
  • Own and advance the Safety Pillar within Weaver Manufacturing Excellence (WME), integrating safety into daily operations and continuous improvement.
  • Maintain compliance with applicable OSHA, EPA, IDEM, and local requirements, including environmental permits, reporting, inspections, and recordkeeping.
  • Maintain a strong presence on the manufacturing floor, coaching leaders and team members on hazard recognition, safe work practices, and accountability.
  • Lead safety programs and risk-reduction efforts involving machine safety, hazardous energy, mobile equipment, combustible dust, industrial hygiene, respiratory protection, PPE, ergonomics, and other manufacturing hazards.
  • Lead investigations of injuries, near misses, environmental events, and high-potential exposures; identify root causes and ensure corrective actions are completed.
  • Conduct risk assessments and EHS reviews for new or modified equipment, materials, processes, and capital projects.
  • Oversee EHS training, emergency preparedness, contractor safety, performance metrics, and continuous improvement efforts.
  • Partner with the People Department on injury case management, return to work, and workers' compensation.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree in safety, environmental science, engineering, industrial hygiene, or a related field; equivalent relevant education and experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of progressive EHS experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience applying safety and environmental regulations, conducting audits and investigations, managing corrective actions, and supporting regulatory inspections.
  • Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and business judgment.
  • A hands-on leadership style and willingness to spend meaningful time on the plant floor supporting a 24/7 manufacturing operation.

Preferred Experience

  • 7+ years of EHS experience in food, grain, beverage, CPG, or high-volume manufacturing.
  • Experience supporting multiple plants or operations.
  • CSP, CIH, CHMM, or another relevant EHS certification.
  • Experience with Lean, TPM, or a pillar-based manufacturing excellence system.
  • Experience with grain handling, combustible dust, industrial hygiene, respiratory protection, wastewater, air permitting, stormwater, or emergency response.

Why Weaver Popcorn Manufacturing?

This is an opportunity to have a meaningful impact in a highly visible leadership role. You'll help shape how safety is integrated into our operations, partner directly with plant leadership, and build stronger systems that protect our people, our community, and our environment.

If you're an EHS leader who combines strong technical knowledge with a practical, people-focused approach to safety, we'd like to hear from you.

Apply today and help us continue building a safer, stronger manufacturing operation in Van Buren.
